Scholarships

We are pleased to offer Scholarships to the Young Mariner Program at the Cape Cod Maritime Museum.

Please read the following information before applying for a scholarship. Should you have any questions, please contact us at 508-775-1723 or email us at: camp@capecodmaritimemuseum.org

How do we decide who receives a scholarship?

Any family may apply for scholarship for their camper. We review applications in the order that they are received, please allow at least two business days for processing. Only completed applications with all questions answered will be reviewed.  Scholarships may be awarded for one session per camper, per summer. Scholarship may be used toward any of the available sessions.

We consider each family’s income, as well as extenuating circumstances. All scholarships are distributed at the discretion of the Young Mariner Program Director.

Does the Young Mariner Program guarantee scholarship?

The Young Mariner Program does not guarantee that a particular camper or family will receive a scholarship. We review applications in the order they are received. Apply as soon as you know you want to send a camper to the Young Mariner Program. If we receive a scholarship application after the budgeted scholarships have been awarded, or after your desired session has filled, we will let you know and either adjust accordingly, or will keep your application on file to be reconsidered if another family has a change of plans and more aid or space becomes available.

Where does the Young Mariner Program get funds to award as scholarship?

Most of the scholarships awarded by Young Mariner Program are from donations made by individuals,  foundations, and grants.  This means that most money awarded as scholarships are necessarily limited based on the amount of campers we can host each summer. Our goal is to host 60% of our campers on scholarships. Donations made to the Young Mariner Program go towards scholarships and operating costs of the program.

What happens after I apply for a scholarship?

Your application is reviewed by the Program Director, who will contact you to register your child for your preferred session. Please allow at least 2 business days for the Program Director to get back to you after submitting your application.

Why am I charged a $50 fee even if my child is on a scholarship?

There is a $50 nonrefundable deposit for all children attending the summer camp to reserve their spot in the session. Deposits ensure your child's spot in the program, as space is very limited. Children on scholarships will have the $50 deposit refunded after attendance. Note that refunds may not be available immediately. Should the child not attend the program, the deposit will not be returned.
